Purpose/Benefits of the Winter Wellness Challenge


Participants in this challenge will embrace activities that nurture the whole self: each phase focuses on a different aspect of health, providing education about maintaining health in the colder months and encouraging the formation of healthy lifestyle habits while enjoying the winter.


Outline of the Winter Wellness Challenge Phases


Phase 1 (Days 1-14): Mental Wellness Focus


Theme: This phase concentrates on mental wellness activities tailored to the winter, with a summary of mindfulness techniques and a short, guided winter meditation audio.


Phase Completion Type: All Required Activities


Required

  • Use the Mindfulness Tracker: Log daily mindfulness sessions for at least 6 days. (300 tokens)
  • Read the article “Embracing Winter: Mindfulness Techniques for the Colder Months.” (100 tokens)
  • Listen to the audio “Winter Wellness Guided Meditation.” (100 tokens)
  • After reading the “Mindfulness Techniques” article, choose one or two of them that appeals to you and try it. (100 tokens)


Phase 2 (Days 15-28): Indoor Physical Activity


Theme: This phase offers alternatives to exercise options that may not be feasible during the winter, with an emphasis on exercises and activities that can be done in the home or other small, indoor spaces.


Phase Completion Type: All Required Activities


Required

  • Use the Activity Tracker: Exercise indoors at least 4 days. (300 tokens)
  • Complete the flow "Winter Workouts: Staying Active Indoors." (100 tokens)
  • Read the article “10 Creative Indoor Exercise Ideas for Winter.” (100 tokens)


Phase 3 (Days 29-42): Nutritional Balance with Seasonal Foods


Theme: This phase emphasizes eating seasonal produce and maintaining a balanced diet during winter.


Phase Completion Type: All Required Activities


Required

  • Use the Nutrition Tracker: Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables at least 6 days. (300 tokens)
  • Complete the flow "Winter Superfoods: Nourishing Your Body with Seasonal Produce." (100 tokens)
  • Read the article “Healthy and Hearty: Cooking with Winter Vegetables.” (100 tokens)
