Media Specifications in the Engagement Rx System

This article covers the file specifications for various types of files used in the Engagement Rx system. 


Logos & Favicons


You can upload your own logo and favicon to display in your portal using the branding tool in the admin website. To get to the branding tool, go to the Settings section of the admin website, enter the portal management module, and click Branding from the Settings options.


File type and size:



  • Accepted file types are .jpg and .png

  • Ensure that logo size is 250 x 80 or greater.

  • Ensure that favicon size is 16 x 16 or greater.

Content Thumbnails


When managing a portal, you can upload/build various types of custom content. When you create custom content, thumbnail images can be uploaded in the content settings to represent the custom content you've created. Thumbnail images are used for the following:



File type and size:



  • Accepted file types are .jpg and .png

  • Thumbnail image size should be 300 x 200.


Videos


Videos can be added in the content management tool of the admin website. To get to the content management tool, go to the Settings section of the admin website, enter the portal management module, and click on Content from the options.



  • Accepted file types are .mov and .mp4

  • In general, typical video display is in a 1280 x 720 window, but users can view videos in full screen.

  • We support H.264 and H.265 encoding, which are supported by mobile devices.

  • There is no limit on video length, although larger files may take longer to upload.


Listed here are the details related to size and aspect ratio:



  • 640x480, 4:3—Video that doesn’t have much motion can go as low as 900 kbps with good results. For high quality (for videos with any amount of motion), use at least 2672 kbps.

  • 640x360, 16:9—Video can be as low as 2132 kbps.

  • 1024x768, 4:3—This format is usually for screencasts or cropped HD sources; 4864 kbps is enough.

  • 1280x720, 16:9—For very low motion videos, 3136 is sufficient; but for videos with moderate (or more) motion, the bit rate needs to be higher, at least 4512 kbps.

  • 1920x1080, 16:9 stretched source—Upload these videos at 720p with a bit rate of 8024 kbps.


Audios


Audios can be added in the content management tool of the admin website. To get to the content management tool, go to the Settings section of the admin website, enter the portal management module, and click on Content from the options.



  • Accepted file types are .wav and .mp3

  • There is no limit on file size, although larger files may take longer to upload.


PDFs


PDFs can be added in the content management tool of the admin website. To get to the content management tool, go to the Settings section of the admin website, enter the portal management module, and click on Content from the options.



  • If you are using Adobe Acrobat,  you can compress your file by choosing to “save as Other,” then selecting “Reduced Size PDF.”

  • Don’t create an overly long document.

  • If your PDF is long and media-rich, it can cause problems both in loading and in keeping your users’ attention. Instead of keeping it as one document, try breaking the PDF up into two or more documents.
