Branching in Flows V1
Note: This article is about branching in the original flows system of the admin website, which differs from how branching is done in Flows V2.
Branching in flows based on the answers a member gives to a multiple choice/select survey, a dropdown survey, and a date entry component. Branching allows you to create different paths in a form based on the answers a member gives.
To create a branch, select the question from the flow-builder. In the editing tool, select “Logic Branching":
You can branch from the current question or any branchable component question that exists previously in the flow. First, enter a name for the branch, then determine which question you are applying the branch to by clicking the dropdown arrow next to "This question":
After choosing the question you are branching from (either the current question or a previous question), you can apply the answer that triggers the branching.
To recap: In the case of this example, the branch applies to any member who answered "0" for how many pets they have:
- Choose the question from the dropdown ("This question" applies the branch to the question you are editing)
- Choose the rule: the branch can apply if an answer is or is not the answer you choose in step 3
- Choose the answer you are applying the rule to
After creating the branch, select and drag the blue connector-line to the next part of the branched sequence. You can either add new content and/or surveys that apply to the branch or skip to a segment piece later in the flow:
